San Francisco, the Brodericks are coming!

We spent our last overnight on the road in Auburn, CA at their RV park. We got in after dark, did the late night reservation, pulled into #55 Nugget Way and settled in for the evening. It was close to midnight by the time we were in stopped night mode. We reminisced about our 10 days on the road and talked about how we couldn't believe that we were almost to our destination. The whole reason why we took this drive out to begin with was only 2 1/2 hours away, wow! Before we knew it was close to 1am and I was exhausted! I went to bed while Jimmy played around online checking his fantasy sport stats and listening to music.

I slept so well, even if Daisy did hog half of the bed. When we woke up this morning both pets were in bed cuddling with us, a first on this trip! It was cute! After a few snoozes, we finally greeted the smoky, hazy California morning. On our drive into CA last night, we began to smell the smoke that the wind carried in from the various wildfires burning here. There was a haze to the sky and a strong campfire smell in the air. Even though it wasn't thick, it still bothered both of us a bit. I'm not sure how people breath that in all of the time, but I guess unless they chose to leave their home or are forced to its just what you deal with, unfortunately.

After moving around slowly this morning, we stripped the bed, and deflated the air mattress we put on top of the queen bed that was already in the RV. We gathered all of our laundry and situated various things in bags that we wanted to take out of the RV when we got to San Francisco. We dumped one last time, keeping our usual positions. Jimmy pulls the levers.....

...while I make sure that the hose is firmly in the ground....

Then, it was time to hit the road. We did make a stop at Target before we left town. (Wal-Mart, I'm sorry for cheating on you!) We picked up a tarp to cover up the exposed part on the RV while we store it in the spot we found in Novato, CA.

As I type, we've passed Sacramento and are cruising towards San Francisco. I'm not sure that it has hit me yet that we'll be staying for longer than a few days. I'm excited to check out the apartment we rented in Noe Valley - a quiet, clean, sunny part of the city. The locals sometimes refer to it as Stroller Valley since there are a lot of moms and strollers walking around town. I guess it sounds like the equivalent of the Upper East Side in Manhattan to me.

Our plan is to hopefully park this 31 footer outside our apartment or as close as we can get, really. We'll unload all of our stuff and then our friend Ken will follow us to where we're storing the Four Winds. He'll bring us back to the city and then we'll begin to get situated in our new abode. Tonight, there is a show at the Independent that a lot of our friends are going to. Lettuce is opening up for Trombone Shorty and I've been told that I will really enjoy this show. Tickets are sold out but our new crew of friends apparently have connections to get tickets if we want them. We've decided we'll wing it and see how we're feeling later. We could be ready to take in music to celebrate our first night in SF or we could be absolutely exhausted.

Until then, we're just enjoying the last leg of the drive. Jimmy's behind the wheel driving down 80 West.
He'll bring us over the Bay Bridge in less than 2 hours! The excitement is building....
