One week down...

It’s been days since we've blogged, I know! We've been enjoying the past week and haven't blogged because of it, however, that's no reason to keep you wondering how our San Francisco adventure is going so far.

Last we left off, we were in vacation mode which officially ended yesterday. Granted, we're still on "vacation". However, like most people I need to develop some sort of a routine. Today, after prepping for an order to go out (my first shipment from the west coast), we set off for a local urban hike. I figured that I could do a workout DVD or let the hills test my toosh so I chose the latter. I looked at the map and noticed a park about a mile and half away called Glen Canyon Park. It said to take Diamond until it hit Diamond Heights Blvd and then follow that and we'd hit the park. Since we're between Castro and Diamond, we headed up to Diamond and took on the hills. It was a steady incline for a majority of the walk to the park, except a steep downhill towards the end. My calf muscles felt it the most but the view at the top of each corner was worth it.

We made it to the park which had all sorts of trails going all over the place. It’s a really large park and we only explored a little today. We took this small windy path up this hill and stopped at the top to rest on a rock and take in the views.

Though, there wasn't much to see since it was really foggy out there. We did see a few guys playing paintball all over the hill, so we made sure to make our presence known so we didn't become targets. We took another windy path back up the hill.....

... and eventually met up with the street that would take us home. The beginning had a steep hill and then it was all downhill after that. I really felt it in my quads on the downhills, but knew that I had chosen the better workout over the DVD. If I can keep doing these urban hikes 4 days a week while we're here, I'll definitely be headed down the right track! I know I'll feel this tomorrow!

This past weekend marked a full week that we've been here. We both agree that we've had a great week and managed to do a lot of fun things. We did go to that bottomless wine charity event last week for Big Brothers Big Sisters. The event was packed and it was hard to move around, but we stayed for a few hours and drank some delicious red wine. We got to see some faces that we hadn't seen in awhile which is always fun, too! There were so many great things to bid on. Jimmy naturally went for the sports stuff and a round of golf, but together we bid for a 5 hour Limo ride from Limelight Coaches which we WON!! We aren't sure if we'll use it for our anniversary or if we'll get a group together and have a dinner and night out on the town. Either way, it'll be great to cash that win in!

Thanks to Nikkie, we also made it to Target and Costco last Friday. We shopped all afternoon at both stores and managed to fill Nikkie's Scion to the brim with goods. We made a stop at In N Out Burger for lunch, our first during this west coast visit, mmm. We walked next door to Krispy Kreme to watch the donuts being made, yum! Nikkie dropped us off back at home and we spent a little while unloading and situating all of our new goods!

Saturday, I baked up Chocolate Chunk and Sugar cookies all day for a Sassy Sweet Treats order. That night, we headed to Dolores Park for the Breakfast Club showing on the big screen. We were running late so we weren't able to get a hold of the group we were hoping to meet up with. Instead, we found a nice spot in the back and eventually met up with Ryan and Nikkie.

The sound echoed from where we were sitting, so we really only watched bits and pieces of it...

....and we mostly talked for the rest of the time. Sitting in that park, one of my SF favorites so far, on a cool night watching a movie was such a neat thing to do. At one point I looked up to see the fog creeping in on both sides which also made the wind pick up. The fog is such a mysterious thing, but I've been enjoying it - even if it does make my hair frizz a little. Yes, whether people admit it, SF really does get humid. I think people associate humidity with heat only, but it can be humid with cool temps. Look at SF weather.com humidity %’s at any given time and I bet the % is high!

Sunday, I baked up more Sassy Sweet Treats - Oatmeal Raisin, Oatmeal Toffee Chocolate Chunk and Peanut Butter! Afterwards we met Ryan, Nikkie and their dog Zappa up at the dog park we frequent on Douglass. We were curious how the meet would go between Zappa and Daisy. After it is said and done, they both did well upon first sniff...

They enjoyed running around the park together, though Daisy was definitely way more fascinated with Zappa than he was with her.

She tends to get obsessive with older dogs and lick their faces constantly. She did this with Zappa and most times he'd growl at her while she continued to try to shove her mouth in his. We eventually left the park and headed back to their place in Hayes Valley for a delicious dinner cooked by Ryan. We played a little Wii bowling where I achieved a new high score - 178, go me! Before we knew it, it was getting late and we wondered if cabs allowed dogs since Daisy was with us. We called and learned that you must mention that you have a dog, but yes, some cars will accommodate dogs. A few minutes later, a car pulled up to take us home. It was Daisy’s first cab ride! She did well though overall she's not really a huge fan of being in the car.

We are both really enjoying our apartment. Now that we picked up a few storage things, it feels more homey! Our location is so convenient and everything is within a few block radius. Bernie's is still our favorite for lattes but we finally picked up a coffee grinder so we've been enjoying Bean and Leaf's Costa Rican blend every morning. Did I mention the coffee mugs are amazingly huge at the place we rented? Now that's a cup of coffee!

Shortly, we'll head to the grocery store which is 1 1/2 blocks away and get everything we need to cook up some chicken fajitas...they are what's for dinner!
