We've made Contact!

"The tires are the things on your car that make contact with the road" ~ lyrics from Phish's song, Contact

At 1:45pm today, our 31 footer pulled out of Jersey City and began our travels westward. We're 3+ hours into the trip and have been enjoying the drive through my home state of PA! Our original plan would put us in Columbus, Ohio for the evening, however, we've decided that we'll just drive until we don't feel like driving anymore and then stop for the night. There were talks of stopping in Pittsburgh, but I imagine we'll push on through to oHIo!

As for the animals, they're doing as best as possible. Daisy was in the RV a bunch of times while we were packing and loved smelling every square inch. We finally brought Sebastian in when we were ready to leave and he let out a few disgruntled meows. We belted his little cage onto the couch of the RV and removed the door so he can come and go as he pleases. He hopped out before we started moving for a few, meowing loudly as he unsuccessfully looked for better place to hide. After walking back into the bedroom, he quickly realized that his cage was going to be as good as it gets. He's been chilling in his cage ever since, occasionally peaking his head up while giving me a glare that says he's somewhat content but not pleased!

Daisy hasn't stopped panting for the 3+ hrs we've been on the road, poor pup. We do find it funny that the cat is adapting better than the dog. Jimmy is driving and all Daisy wants to do is lay under his feet by the pedals. She's settled for laying in the area between our seats instead. Though, she won't lay down for more than a few minutes. She's definitely not sure what's going on.

Shortly, we'll be stopping for our first break. Jimmy's started us off driving and I'll take the wheel next. You can say I'm a little apprehensive! I know I'll be fine once I get the hang of it, but I'm already nervous about going through the toll booths. Here's to hoping I don't knock off a mirror or two on the way through...there is literally only a few inches to spare on either side. We'll be taking Route 76/PA Turnpike to Route 70 for the rest of today's drive. If you hear of an RV driving in the right hand lane crawling at a snails' pace with its flashers on, its probably me!
