4.0 on the Richter scale

We just experienced our first earthquake. Its was around 9pm tonight when we were sitting on the couch with the dog watching coverage on CNN. All of the sudden, I felt the slight shaking. I saw the plant on top of the TV rock back and forth a bit. Daisy hopped off of the couch and went running through the apartment barking and then.......it was over.

It was over before I was able to grab Jimmy's arm and ask, "Do you think we are having an earthquake"? He didn't even feel it, actually.

I immediately started surfing the 'net to confirm whether or not I had just felt my first earthquake. This site confirmed that I did indeed feel one. It measured 4.0 on the Richter scale and occurred 2 miles from Alamo, CA which is about 28 miles from San Francisco.

Truthfully, it felt just like our place in Jersey City did during the pile driving phase of the construction next door, lol.

I had said I wanted to experience a small, minor earthquake while we were out here, and I got my wish. A friend said it was a good introductory quake, too - slow, mellow with a smooth finish. LOL! I agree.

I know I'm behind on blogging, but I've got a list going of the fun things I need to catch up on. Keep checking back....
