Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes

I love music and since I started yesterday's subject with lyrics, I thought I'd do the same today and found an appropriate one thanks to Jimmy Buffet.

Today is a new day. I woke up feeling refreshed and ready for this trip, unlike yesterday. Now that I am in a positive upbeat mood, I was able to reflect back to the cranks of yesterday. I know that part of my mood stemmed from not wanting to leave San Francisco. I really was so sad to leave and was cranky about it on the inside. Those feelings stewed as we drove and then everything just compounded on top of that. But, today...today is a good day and my mindset for the trip has shifted gears into the right direction. I got an email this morning from our friend Todd who we'll be seeing while we are in Portland, OR. He said one line: "Remember first thing....enjoy the ride" and he's right. No more moods, period! This is vacation and one I'm very appreciative of,

We woke up this morning to the California fog which was something I didn't think we'd see after we left SF. When I stepped outside the RV to head to the restroom, the smell in the air stopped me in my tracks. Redwoods! They smell so amazing...so earthy, so fresh! We were surrounded by them in the RV park and they were all that filled the air. I wish I could bottle that scent and have it with me at all times.

After showering and getting the RV ready for drive mode, we were off and I was behind the wheel. After Jimmy's super performance yesterday, it was only right that I start off. It took 5 minutes for me to get used to driving all 31 feet of this Four Winds again. Before long I was hugging the curves on the Redwood Highway. We headed north and eventually made our way into Oregon. Neither of us have been to this state before so we were looking forward to driving through almost the entire state. Another exciting thing we discovered about finally getting to Oregon was that we've been to all of the states on both coasts now. I think we are both in agreement and have a life goal of getting to all 50 states. As of now I've been 35 and will be adding to that list as the drive goes on. Jimmy has been to 32. Not bad!

We've been driving through Oregon for a better part of the day. Light is turning into darkness and soon the moon and stars will be shining down on us. Our destination for the next two nights isn't too far away. Portland, Oregon...the Blogericks are coming!
