Pomodoro's is an Italian place two blocks down that's decent. We've been there on previous trips to SF and our friend Chris used to work there. Pomodoro's turned me onto brussel sprouts. However they cook 'em is the most delicious way I've ever had them and I'm definitely not a brussel sprouts fan!
We've patronized a few of the local shops. Jimmy surprised me with flowers a few mornings ago from the flower shop down the block - Mitre Box? The sunflowers and tulips are beautiful!

I also bought a few new pens for Sassy gift notes at Just for Fun Scribbidoodles - pink and brown sparkly pens galore, watch out! We did stray from Bernie's yesterday morning and got our lattes from Cafe Ponte up on Diamond, too. They were good, but Bernie's has the best so far, I think.
Oh, and I did end up getting a pair of sneakers at See Jane Run down the street. I walked in and was quickly greeted by a friendly shoe fitter. I got evaluated by the way I walked and matched up with a pair of shoes based on that. I'd never had that done before and thought it was pretty cool. I was paired up with sneakers made by Mizuno. They're known for making baseball cleats and volleyball gear, but I have to say their sneaks are pretty comfy so far. Though, I've thought of another bummer about losing my other sneaker. I had my custom orthotics in it. I'm left with one sneaker and one orthotic, darn. Luckily, I did take out that extra insurance policy so my next pair is covered.
I also feel like vacation mode is still in effect because we don't quite have our routine down yet. We're slowly adjusting to the ways of the new hood, and so far we like it. What's also adjusting are our shin, calf, quad and glut muscles. Hills are a daily part of our walking now. Every day we try to take Daisy on a new walk around our hood to explore new streets and sore shins and buns have become a result of this. It is a good sore though. I've started taking photos from different walks and will continue to post them here at our smugmug account.

Hills are everywhere though, so I've begun to embrace them. Once vacation is over in a few more days, I plan to incorporate the hills in my workouts! Until then, I'm giving myself a few more days of true vacation, before I become more disciplined with diet and exercise. There is so much good food here, its easy to carried away for sure not to mention, who doesn't indulge on vacation?
We've been keeping ourselves busy seeing friends, too. Tuesday night we went and saw Mamma Mia the movie with Tina and Mariah at the Century theater downtown.

We caught the 7:10pm showing and all met up at the ticket booth. We got some drinks and popcorn and headed in. The previews started and I felt like there were more previews than normal. Soon enough, we were being lulled by ABBA songs that would stick in my head for days to come. I never considered myself to be a big ABBA fan but after having seen Mamma Mia over 10 times on Broadway, oh yes, these songs tend to grow on ya, ya know? The whole reason for going to see the movie was because of my sister in law's extra role in it. She can be seen during the wedding ceremony and reception scenes wearing the large white hat, but not the round white hat! You can see her smile from a mile away and that helped with spotting her in the movie. We were proud to have seen her up there on the big screen looking fabulous!
We also finally brought Daisy to the park up the street. Its sort of a dog run area but its not totally enclosed. We were worried that she might try to run out of the park in the two spots that open up to the street. However, when we were in there last night, she didn't even really notice them. Unfortunately, there were no other dogs there. We're still trying to learn the most popular times people bring their dogs to the park. A father and son showed up when we got there and were playing Frisbee. Daisy had a blast running back and forth between the two guys with each throw of their Frisbee. A few times when the throw fell short, Daisy got a hold of it and ran around the park with it in her mouth taunting them. We let this happen a few times and then grabbed her so the father and son could play Frisbee without having to worry about Daisy following their every move.
Another funny thing we noticed is how 'east coast' we are with certain things. For example, when we walk down the street, we're fast paced and strategic about how we get around other people. A few days ago we were zooming down the street, weaving in and out of people when I grabbed Jimmy's arm and just stopped. I said, we're being very fast paced east coast right now. We aren't in a hurry, let's slow down and just walk leisurely. We started out slow, but soon enough found ourselves zooming around people again. We'll continue to work on slowing down while we are here, but for now we can't help but laugh at ourselves when our fast paced nature comes out.
One other difference we noticed is how cautious people are at the crosswalks here. In Jersey City/NYC, if the crosswalk is giving the stop signal but no other cars are around everyone crosses anyway. Here most people only cross when the walk signal is given and hardly anyone j-walks when the stop signal is given. For now, those are only a few of the little differences we've noticed.
As for the rest of the week, here is whats on tap:
* A bottomless wine event tonight for a friend who's doing a fundraiser for the Boys/Girls club.
* A Target run
* Breakfast Club viewing in Dolores Park on Saturday night
More later.....

Blogericks! Yay, it sounds like you guys are having so much fun! A bunch of people on my program are from CA and there is a HUGE UCLA group. But a few are from San Fran (I think two) and I told them what you guys are doing. One guys said it was awesome, but there is definitely more than 3 months of stuff to do in San Fran! Hope you two are having a blast.
Lots of love from 6,467 miles away! (Or 10,407 km)
Becca
Your not walking too fast. They're too f*cking slow! Knock someone over to motivate them.
